Our Review:

When it comes to commercial-quality home gas grills, the Alfresco ALXE gives a memorable first impression with its cooking grids, firebox, drip pan, control panel, ceramic briquette trays, and inside and outside of its hood made from 304 stainless steel. The burners below are 18 SR stainless steel.

The cooking grids make great sear marks, and the V-shape sear burner grids catch any food drippings, infusing the flavor right back into your food. The infrared searing zones, an optional feature, offer a beautiful steakhouse-style searing at around 1600 degrees Fahrenheit.

A stand-out feature is the removable ceramic briquette trays that sit directly over the conventional burners. The air cavities on the back of each briquette radiate an even heat across the entire cooking surface regardless of the temperature you’re cooking at. Not only that, but because the trays are removable, the grill is much easier to clean. All you have to do is flip the trays upside down and let any debris burn off.

Another wonderful feature of this carefully designed grill is the slide out smoker box with a dedicated burner rated for 5,000 BTUs. You can use aromatics, woodchips, or liquids in the smoker box to get the exact flavor profile you crave. It releases the smoke into a passageway at the bottom of the grill, allowing the flavor to engulf all the food on your grill, instead of just what is directly above it.

The commercial-style rotisserie motor is both hidden and completely built-in. It’s also chain driven, meaning you can easily turn up to 50 pounds of meat in front of the rear infrared burner without worrying about your food “jumping.” That burner is rated for 18,500 BTUs.

Other nice features include the drip pan that slides out with a removable tray and a removable warming rack that fits into 3 different positions. There’s also a flush-mounted hood thermometer that is accurate and easy to read. The heavy-duty spring lid assist system is a nice touch.

Amber LED lights accent the control panel and two halogen lights are inside the grill, making it possible to host guests day or night. There is an easily accessible LED light panel so you can replace the bulbs when you need to. You’ll find the control panel stays cool to the touch because of its vented design, even when your grill is at the highest temperatures.

Alfresco has an incredible lifetime warranty for this grill’s burners and stainless steel components. It also comes with a “Freedom Warranty,” which covers all parts and repairs for two years.

One thing to note is that this particular grill does not have much of a low turn down when you need to cook food at a lower temperature.

The Bottom Line:

If you want to cook like the pros in your own backyard on a stylish and luxurious gas grill, the Alfresco ALXE might be perfect for you. This restaurant-inspired grill was designed with incredible attention to detail, resulting in good performance all around.
